In loving memory of our Grandpa, Loren Glenn Waller, who
passed away on Monday evening.
Grandpa lived an incredible and full life. He was a World
War II veteran, leader of his church and community, very hard worker, and
devoted to community service. We
grandkids knew him as a constant joker, stubborn as a mule, terrific grandpa,
and leader of our family. He will be
greatly missed by us all.
The Ride will take a detour tomorrow so that Chelsea and
Jane can fly to Missouri to attend the funeral.
Jeanie will stay back in Georgia so that Steph and Darlene are not left
to manage two upcoming scheduled events and school visits as well as routing,
driving the van, and riding the miles into the chaos of Atlanta with only two
people. Grandpa was always very proud of
his kids and grandkids and supported our effort on this trip. He would want the Ride to continue so that we
can keep up our momentum in outreach to schools and communities. We have
scheduled a roadside stop on Friday to coincide with the funeral service in
order to remember and celebrate Grandpa’s life.
We love you Grandpa.
Grandpa was an avid cyclist as a rural Missouri teenager and in college before he bought his first car at age 25. He would be very proud and supportive of your efforts to get kids and adults to bicycle more and safely. Thanks for honoring him on your ride. The RASR team is mahvahlous.
